|Title:||ASSESSMENT OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PRACTICES: THE CASE OF ACTION FOR DEVELOPMENT|
|Abstract:||The purpose of the study was to assess strategic plan formulation and implementation practices: the case of Action for Development. The study is conducted in Action for Developments headquarter and its two field offices, (Oromia Zone of Borena, and SNNP region of Jinka. The researcher took 46 employees as sample using simple random sampling out of the total employees of 91. Action for Developments strategic plan for the year under consideration, and a questionnaire was analyzed. Qualitative method of data analysis was used. The results of the study indicated that Action for Development’s has major drawback in areas of communicating the strategic plan to all its stakeholders, the human resources of the organization has a capacity gap to implement the strategic plan, and there is a difficulty with the sustainable availability of fund to execute the strategic plan. Action for Development is therefore recommended, and should communicate its strategic plan to all its stakeholders so that all have the same level of understanding on the strategic plan, the organization should make sure that employees participation in formulation of the strategic plan, the organization should able to find a means to have a sustainable financial resource that support the implementation of the strategic plan, and finally, the organization should work on the development of the capacity of its employees so that they can able to support the formulation and execution of the strategic plan.|
