Abstract: This project is designed to assess the Employees’ Performance Evaluation Practice and challenges in Zemen Bank. On the basis of data collected through questionnaires and interview; the researcher have tried to reveal some of the real problems of performance evaluation practice based on the opinion of the respondents in this organization. The questionnaire was distributed to 75 employees of the bank working in head office and three kiosks: in which 53 were fully completed and returned. The questionnaire was distributed to the employees on the basis of simple random sampling based on respondent willingness and cooperation of the respondents. The data collected were analyzed using Microsoft Excel application software. On the basis of the data obtained from the respondents, Existence of quota system, Seniority, Subjectivity, lack of clarity of performance evaluation criteria, forms inadequacy to reflect the performance of the employees’ jobs and duties, and manager related problems are the most serious problem identified at Zemen bank. In Addition, the researcher has discovered that evaluators usually do not continually record or document the performance of employees over the evaluation period. In this regard, it was identified that evaluators evaluate the performance of employees on the basis of recent behaviors’. In order to conclude, the performance evaluation system of the bank is attacked with problems. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher has forwarded some recommendations so that to give them an insight as to the practice and its associated problems of performance evaluation in the organization.
