dc.description.abstractTo survive and grow, companies must be constantly kept up to date through effective training and development programs. In particular, this study designed to assess the training and development practice in Awash Insurance Company Share Company. The company strategy on training and development are very essential to show the benefits of using strategic view and perception of training, since by linking this strategy with human resource actively, particularly on training and development, it will contribute to the success and enrichment of the organizations. The methodology used to undertake the study was both primary and secondary data collection instrument. Stratified random sampling method was used to select samples from the target population. In order to assess the existing training and development practice of the insurance company, the study emphasized on the four process of training. These are training needs assessment, design, delivery method and evaluation practices. And all of them were checked separately on the analysis. After the required data are collected descriptive research design (i.e. frequency, percentage and mean) were used to analyze the data using SPSS version 20. The results of this study revealed that each of the training processes did not conduct properly in the company. Moreover, since the overall training and development practice of the insurance company were not effectively conducted as they should be it affects on the performance improvement of the employees’ as well as the insurance company.en_US
