The main objective of this study is to investigate the determinants of choice of transport mode in Addis Ababa. The study hypothesized the effects of independents variables on the choice of transport mode. This research used primary data that collected from participants by using both open and closed ended questionnaire method and employed multinomial logit model. The study found out that traveler's characteristics (age, family size, income, occupation and educational level) and mode of transport characteristics (travel time, travel cost, travel distance, comfort, accessibility, safety and security) are statistically significant. From the findings, 53.8% of the participants used taxi, 25.2% of the participants used buses. Surprisingly, the number of participants who used/chose to use train and private cars is equal with 10.5%. So taxi is the most popular mode of transport used in Addis Ababa. To minimize the forces that push dwellers of Addis Ababa from choosing modes of transportation that have unsafe and insecure attributes, the government and concerned stakeholders should manage the transport system like Higer and Anbessa bus in their safety and comfort to make competitive to others transport modes. Moreover, to improve travel time, the government should invest on infrastructure to reduce traffic jams.en_US
