Abstract: Purpose –It is obvious that working together in teams with individuals that has a selection of different sets of skill, educational back ground ,experience, gender and age difference does positively contributes to, customer satisfaction, creativity, managerial capability, decision making, innovation process of an organizations thus in turn enable the organizations to achieve their goals and objectives. The purpose of this paper is to test the Mediating role of Individual Performance on the Relationship between Workplace Diversity and Team Effectiveness. Design/methodology/approach – The research is quantitative and explanatory in nature. The researcher used both purposive and convenience sampling techniques and data were collected through structured questionnaire from 135 employees that work in 24 different work teams. Computation and analysis was conducted using SPSS (Statistic Package for Social Science) version 20 software. The researcher used this software in order to address the initial research question of the study. Findings – There is a positive relationship between workplace diversity and team effectiveness but individual performance neither mediate the relationship between workplace diversity and team effectiveness nor have a positive relationship with both workplace diversity and team effectiveness. Practical implications -This study investigates the process by which teams become effective, and the results suggests that diversity has the highest effect on team effectiveness which has a beta of (0.302). So procedures and work design systems should be redesigned to ensure the development of diversified, strong and functional teams moreover the organization should work to improve its employee’s performance through training and development.
