Abstract: In a constantly changing environment motivation in NPOs (not-for-profit organizations) has drawn major attention over the past few decades. Motivation aims to empower and liberalize people as enhance their entrepreneurial abilities to recognize the interactions between humans and their abilities to work. This study aims to investigate the effect of motivation (social, moral and material) on employees’ performance in not for profit organization (the case of Save the children international Ethiopia Country office). The data were collected using simple random sampling via self-administered questionnaire, and from a total of 198 survey questionnaires, 198 responses were collected and retained for analysis from employees that working in save the children International Ethiopia Country Office. Relied on correlation and multiple regression analysis, this study reveals that moral motives are significantly and positively effect on employee’s performance. Moreover, the study finds that a high level of motivations provided to employees that working in save the children International, Ethiopia country Office. However, the material and social incentives are found to be having no effect on employee’s performance. Accordingly, the study recommended that save the children International, Ethiopia Country Office needs to adapt and develop its motivation schemes in order to satisfy all employees’ moral needs.
