Abstract: A study was conducted to determine factors affecting organizational commitment in higher education in the case of Addis Ababa University and to identify the factors that influencing the organizational commitment of Employees, the researcher had distributed questionnaire for 313 respondents. The instruments used for data collection were Meyer, Allen, and Smith (1996) 20 item organizational commitment questionnaire. Correlation Statistical tool and multiple regressions were used to test the hypotheses the finding revealed that there was average level of organizational commitment. According factors affecting organizational commitment (job security, performance appraisal, Career advancement and Management support and work condition) The multiple regressions analysis result was describe that the only two of factors were significant, (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01) in influencing organizational commitment of AAU academic Staffs The significant variables were carrier advancement and Performance appraisal but the other factors, job security and Management support and work condition found to be not significant in influencing organizational commitment in this research.
