Abstract: This study tried to examine the effect of training on employee performance in Ethiopian Customs commission Kality Branch Office. To collect the appropriate data as a population, the study selected employees who have taken training for the last three years. The sample size of the study is 87. In this study both primary and secondary data sources were used. To collect the necessary data, interview and survey questionnaires were applied as the methods of data collection. The questionnaires were rated using five point Likert Scale. To analyze the collected data, both descriptive and inferential analysis were applied. Based on this survey research analysis, training need assessement, pre-training materials provisions and pre-training communication with the employees were very weak. The trainers don’t use effective and realistic examples and exercises in the time of training. In addition, the branch office has no objective or scientific tool for measuring the effect of the training on employees. Based on this, as recommendations, this study put the followings: Firstly, the branch office shall give attention for training need assessment, training design. The branch office shall also select appropriate objective tool for evaluation of its training effectiveness.There must also have measuring of post training effects on the employees. The human resource management shall give due attention for evaluating the effect of training every time
